The book "Cherubs of Grota" was developed by the Brazilian photographer Fernando Braune. Mr. Braune met this beautiful String Orchestra from Grota, which was created and managed by a non-for-profit organization founded in 1983 in the Grota community in San Francisco neighborhood in the city of Niterói (RJ).
The non-for-profit called "Espaço Cultural da Grota" (ECG) works to promote citizenship through culture, art and education, developing musical education projects, after school education activities, social promotion, referral to University and guidance for youth, from 16 years and up, if they wish to become entrepreneurs. Currently there are over 250 children and youth, participating in their activities from Monday to Saturday.
In order to contribute to the continuity of the Grota projects, Fernando Braune produced the bilingual book "Cherubs of Grota" and the proceeds from the book sale has been and will be fully transferred to the community. Also, the photographies from the book will be on sale at the event with the same purpose.
