This painting was produced during the artist residency at the Joan Mitchell Center / Foundation in New Orleans.
Pecci traveled the Route 61, where he saw many historic places, flyers and learned about many interesting people. The trip inspired this painting. Along the Route 61 he saw and decide to paint Shirleys' Beauty Salon, a salon that was very famous at the time of its existence for dying peoples hair. Dying hair techniques were different, and change your hair color was not so common at that time.
